Felicia Hunt was introduced to Art before she could speak, by Sharon Elliott, who is also an artist and her mother. Hunt continued to draw illustrations in school for others in exchange for money, making many friends. After studying art in middle and high school, and winning contest for her work, Hunt went to Los Angeles Valley College. There she studied drawing, art history and drafting classes for electives, while majoring in creative writing. She felt that art was just a secret passion.
Hunt's gifted creative writings described as “paintings in words,” which later transpired to the canvas by her brush. She switched from English to Fine Art her last three years majoring in painting and drawing, and minored in English. She has also taken advanced courses in Theater, Creative Writing, Printmaking and Art History. Hunt has discovered herself through different avenues of expression, technique, and experimentation.
At LSU she matured as an artist completing works in various paint mediums: oils, acrylic, and watercolor. She has had extensive training in Printmaking, black and white as well as color, and bookmaking. Hunt has also worked in three-dimensional Arts, such as woodworking, ceramics, jewelry making and even extended her artistic talents to cake designs. She has completed works in pencil, pen, ink, charcoals, and is currently embracing photography.
She has lectured in schools and other venues on the importance of art and self expression, and art as a career choice. Hunt states that “Art is an extension of each person, and is a complete freedom of expression. It should evoke feelings and thoughts, and not be limited by perception."
Currently Hunt is a prolific painter, selling paintings and prints and completing murals for churches and schools. She has recently switched from Oil to Acrylic because of demand, her work is selling before it is dry. Hunt is also selling from her Web site, feliciahunt.com. She has works on display at the Elizabethan Gallery in Baton Rouge, LA. She has reached the level of professional artist supporting herself completely by Art.
